Promoting Active Participation of Disabled Persons
Toward the Advancement of People with Disabilities
Guided by Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group 's management principles (mission), we seek to harness the diversity and creativity of each and every individual - the very concept behind diversity, equity and inclusion - and our Basic Policy for Personnel Affairs Management aims to add value to the organization by making full use of the diversity and creativity of all employees.
Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group aims to create a workplace environment where each employee, regardless of whether he or she has a disability or not, can work with a sense of satisfaction as a member of the organization.
We place great importance on work-life balance and support the growth of each employee in line with our group’s human resource development policy. Whether he or she has a disability or not doesn’t matter.
In fiscal year 2022, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank established “DE&I Lab” within its Human Resources Department to promote the active participation of employees with intellectual, mental, and developmental disabilities. The lab was established in Osaka as well by now.
Employment of Disabled Persons at SuMi TRUST Bank
From communicating with customers at branches to handling clerical duties at our headquarters, the number of places where people with disabilities work as a part of the team is increasing at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank. We also focus on ensuring that any concerns and special requests these employees may have are addressed by holding interviews after joining the company. The results of these interviews are used to create a more comfortable working environment for all employees, both physically and psychologically. Since the 2022 fiscal year, we have also been promoting a project to expand employment of individuals with intellectual, mental, or other developmental disabilities, in addition to those with physical disabilities. (Promoted through the open recruitment system by employees who choose to participate in this project.)
